World Cup Wags – Which Country has the Sexiest?

It’s not long now until the World Cup in Russia, and some teams have already qualified for the prestigious event. With Germany the reigning champions and Portugal coming off the back of their Euro 2016 win, there is potential for a fierce contest. There could also be a separate competition for the WAGs, as there will surely be some amazingly gorgeous women in attendance. Here we take a look at some of the hottest WAG’s going to Russia, and rate their fellas’ chances on the football pitch as well.

After the amazing period during which Spain won back-to-back European Cups with a World Cup title sandwiched in between, the past masters are no longer considered favourites to go all the way. They didn’t even make it past the group stage in the last World Cup, and only managed to make it to the Round of 16 at Euro 2016. Even so, Julen Lopetegui’s side can be backed at 7/1 in the international football betting to lift the trophy at the end of the tournament.

One thing that may help the Spaniards recapture the devastating form they displayed between 2008 and 2012 is the quality of the WAGs that will be cheering them on. David de Gea will have stunning singer, actress, and television presenter Edurne Garcia in tow, while Alvaro Morata will be bringing along the absolutely incredible Maria Pombo. Perhaps the hottest of the lot is Gerard Pique’s girlfriend Shakira. Hopefully, the Latin singer will be able to pause her busy schedule to give support to the Barcelona stalwart.

As 2014 World Cup winners and firm favourites to defend their title again in Russia, you would expect the German national team to have some pretty sexy WAGs. And you would be right. The mighty players of Germany have some awesome WAGs who could give Spain’s stunners a run for their money. Take Mats Hummel’s classy counterpart Cathy Fischer, for instance, who used to be a cheerleader before she met the Borussia Dortmund legend. Mario Gotze’s other half, Ann-Kathrin Brommel, took part in Germany’s Next Top Model in 2012 and has featured for a number of major calendars since then.

Poland may be outsiders to win the World Cup, with some bookies placing them at around 66/1, but they do have some seriously sexy WAGs in their entourage. In fact, if the World Cup was based on the quality of WAG alone, Adam Nawalka’s side could easily be favourites to go all the way. There are a number of world-class women accompanying the Euro 2016 quarterfinalists, such as the mouth-wateringly sumptuous fashion icon Celia Jaunat, who is with the on-loan West Bromwich Albion midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak. There is also Wojciech Szczesny’s wife Marina Szczesny to consider, as well as the lovely Mrs Lewandowski.

The main focus in the summer will, of course, be on the quality football being played in the ultimate international tournament. But it’s good to know that there will also be a high calibre of WAG there, helping to cheer their respective footballer husbands and boyfriends along.
