Modric’s wife, Vanja Bosnić, deserves huge credit, but who else has been crucial to his rise?
Luka Modric was this week awarded the Ballon D’Or, the title given to the best player for the previous 12 months, breaking the hold on the crown by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have shared the title since 2007. The 33 year-old insists that then-boss Harry Redknapp was crucial in his transition to a deep-lying playmaker, and one that was central to his rise to the top, and he would more than likely have never hit such heights without that switch. Redknapp himself has been a big talking point lately thanks to being crowned king of the jungle by winning this year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here but there is somebody else who deserves a big mention in his progression from footballer to superstar.
Modric’s wife and children’s mother was introduced to the Real Madrid star as part of her job in promoting and enhancing profiles of public figures, and Vanja eventually left her company in order to concentrate on the progression of her partner, one which proved outstandingly positive for him.
The pair met back in 2006, and is said to have been bold in motivating his move to Premier League stalwarts Tottenham Hotspur, and you can only imagine that she continued to push him to strive for better, eventually pushing him to earn a move to everybody’s dream club, Real Madrid.
