As the national team gets into the action of the World Cup 2018 tournament in Russia, let’s look back on the highs and lows of players’ chic other halves! As Gareth Southgate, the manager of the team, prepares to bring home the trophy, there’s no doubt fans will be monitoring the stands for Wives and Girlfriends, or WAGs.
It’s been more than a decade since Coleen Rooney, Chief WAG, and her squad, including Victoria Beckham, turned the streets of Germany’s Baden Baden into a private catwalk. Interestingly, that year was also the one in which England dropped out of the tournament in the Quarter-Finals stage, with their WAGs taking blame for distracting them.
Arsenal’s new regime after the departure of Arsene Wenger has got off to a great start as they have already completed their first signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner, the Juventus right-wing back. The 34 year-old may be getting on a bit but he is currently with the Switzerland national team, as captain, preparing for the World Cup.
It is being reported that Arsenal’s brilliant German midfielder Mesut Ozil has found himself a gorgeous girlfriend (and maybe future wife) in Amine Gulse, who, like him, is of Turkish descent but was born in Gothenburg in Sweden. The lovely Amine won the Miss Turkey competition back in 2014 and went on to compete in the Miss World competition although without success.
